15th street and 9th ave in Manhathan -- Friends were invited at the Standard in teh Meatpacking district to say 'Bye' and show the motorcycle... HEre is a view on the traffic jam and the recognizable yellow cabs. Sadness to leave THE city / relief to smell the feel of Freedom on its way.

Times square 2pm : "It s time to say 'bye'! " Few friends gathererd on the departure line. People are busy in NYC, no lunch breaks,...

Friends are a little suspicious when looking at the bike and when I tell them about the distance to achieve this trip to Panama

I am OK, I am just a little stressed out. I know I will not see friends or relatives a while - Times square sucks; too many people, not enough air, it is time to leave - !

Trying to see something, someone ... who can explain me "Why am I doin' this ?" In fact the very last glance at the city will be couple hours later from the super beautiful Washington bridge with a huge satisfaction while singing loud the hardcore version of a song "New York, New York ; a city so nice they name it twice" that I used to play with my band in Funkadelic studio. Then, followed by a composition stolen to South PArk spitten with rage "New York fuck yeah..."

On my first day of travel , a lot of traffic o leave the city as the kick-off of spring and the first hot beautiful day after such a long winter of economic crisis - First day was one of the worst mechanically speaking : Bent oil filter, leak in the master cylinder, oil brakes level low... and finally when I was riding through the night some biker told me my rear light was not working. I had a broken bulb. But I still arrived in this nice little auto industrial city of MILFORD !

I felt a great harmony in the elements of the nature surrounding me - while bathing I could observe all the leaves going down the stream and in the air a large female falcon was diligently building a nit for shelter and family...

This a little piece of advice for travelers who want to go to NYC to Central America -> Always go via Canada. Here is the garage of my new friend Lawrence Hoggart in Hamilton, Ontario. We spent several hours working on my motorcycle and Lorenzo who is very experienced with this bike showed me all the tricks to know before heading to the places where no BMW store could be found...

This is the Lawrence's neighboor. I stayed on her couch for the night and Lawrence cooked some great pancakes for the breakfast with homemade canadian maple leaf syrup. Very tasty -

And here we are in the Canadian sun. Ready for a 8 hours ride on 'small' roads along the Erie Lake to Detroit. The morotcycle was working great after Lawrence had cleaned some rust off the gas handle... (and helped fix the central stand) . BIG THANKS to YOU LORENZO and I hope to see you again someday !

To start by Canada was good since I was lucky and had great weather and the roads are both nice and flat. This road trip was very progressive in this sense... This motorcycle is one of the best to achieve a 10 k miles travel. It is fast, reliable, versatile, the electronic system is pretty simple and for me the position was very comfortable...

From Chicago to Memphis, I broke the clutch cable I arrived left in Memphis there were no Hotels since it was music & BBQ festival. I went to listen blues in a bar til' 2am - This guy Jim Goings told me I could stay at his place on the couch for the night and dry my clothes since it was raining non stop with huge storms ! Jim invited to HI Pancakes and we talked a lot about politic, wars and weapons...

Jim's house was a huge mess, very hardcore. We parked the motorcycle in a room. Jim now works in a hospitals but he pulled out some old pictures when he was a boxer. Jim had also several guns and a shotgun he showed me. Pretty impressive weapons !

From Memphis to New Orleans I took so much rain with huge storms coming from Texas and it made it impossible to make it in a day... I had to stop for the night and lost a lot of time. Only when I arrived in Jackson he next day I started to dry off a little and then eventually got warmer with the southern air of Louisiana.

These guys I met first arriving in Louisiana told me their surnames were French but they could not speak French. They were very nice and were very sorry when I told them I got in New Orleans too late for the Jazz festival. Beacause of teh rain I arrived too late for the last day of teh festival whixh featured Buddy Guy, Maze and Franky Beverly, Herbie Hancock and other masters like such... TOO BAD O went for drinks on Bourbon Street and I had my share of music, entertainment and fun !

I crosses all the West of Louisiana, spent a night in Houston and was impressed by the 3 financails districts... Then I went to Austin which is a great city, students, artists and a ton of bars with live music.
